I've been busy over the last few weeks building myself a garage brewery. I'd started off with grand ideas of building a 200L set up and even had ideas of going pro... Let's just say I've come down to earth again!
The plan was to use what I had already and scale up to 60L/127 pints. Cost was more or less £200 bang on on materials.
On top of this, I got a sparky to rig up the electrics. 10mm armored cable runs from the house into the brewery. The whole garage is now good for around 90 amps.
Allow me to take you on a tour!
The mains box

The ugliest HLT you've ever seen. I love it because it's so ugly. Connected to a Totton 28/11 pump.

The Mash Tun. Have been using this for a few years so no change. This is hooked up to a Totton 20/12 pump.

The Boiler. You'll also notice a little pump. This is to pump the wort into the fermentation fridge next to it. I'll also use it to recirculate the wort during the chill.

The fermentation fridge. I finally own one! This is actually a freezer. It's 30 yrs old. The guy I bought it off was pretty sentimental about parting with it. It gets to live out its retirement working in a brewery. That's a nice way to finish up I reckon.
This was the most difficult thing to build. I had to take a chance with drilling the hole for the heater and temp probe. I've raised it up so that I can fill the kegs with ease.
Wiring the temperature controller was pretty stressful too. Mainly because the power cables were short. I want to revisit this again and make it safer.

I also have a dedicated hop freezer

Still to do:
Sort out the mash tun. Wouldn't mind a rotating sparge arm...
Connect the garage up to the water mains
Connect 2 200L water buts to the immersion chiller so that I can keep water costs down.
BREW SOME BEER! Maiden brew will be next week as I'm heading to Ireland tomorrow.
Hope you enjoyed the tour!
