Coopers replacement caps - not the same as originals

Post by StuAlban » Sat May 10, 2014 6:21 pm

I've always used Coopers 500ml PET bottles for my beer and have been very happy with them. The caps are reusable - you just don't get the security seal after the first usage but that doesn't matter.

After having had a few bottles that were short on carbonation I thought I'd try replacing the caps to solve this.

I purchased a pack of 24 replacement caps but they don't seem the same as the originals and I haven't been happy with them. Firstly they don't fit that well - you can open them without breaking the seal (which just spins round with the cap) and secondly they seem to seal less well than those they replaced.

Having looked a bit closer I can see they are not exactly the same. The originals had a white plastic piece inside but the replacements don't and just have a black star pattern inside.

Has anyone else noticed this? Are there more than one design?

Cheers,
Stu.

I have a combination of both on my bottles and I haven't noticed any issues between the different types

Yeah I noticed, I threw the old ones as the new ones look a lot more hygienic. They changed months ago.
