How many brews did you get from it? Are you using it as a HLT or boiler?
I've just bought 2 and was hoping to get a couple of years from them as the elements are expensive.

Can not fault the boiler apart from I had to move the thermal cut out out away from the element. .I use the boiler to mash and boil in..only done around 5 brews...the elements are no longer made (no good really when Nisbets still sell them...not impressed

Re: 40LTR Buffalo boiler element
can u post a pic of the element/hole? i can think of a few possible fixes, use a self tapping stubby SS screw? or nut n bolt, Or a dab of jb-weld / waterweld, or perhaps fill with a dab of solder (u need a good liquid acid flux tho, plumbers flux wont etch SS.)
ist update for months n months..

Re: 40LTR Buffalo boiler element
Cheers for the advice...I am goin to try the waterweld as it sounds like it will do the job...then will fit a new element inside the boiler...

Re: 40LTR Buffalo boiler element
If it was bought new a couple of years ago you should be able to get a replacement element.
Just be sure you check its the right one for your model number and quote size you want.
I had an old Buffalo and the element they sent was the wrong size.
Not their fault apparently there were 2 sizes for that model number.
If you want to patch it up I'd highly recommend Fernox FS-X.

Re: 40LTR Buffalo boiler element
i fully agree that as the boiler is still being sold there should be spares for it...a good friend of mine says he will put a small weld on it.....then just a new element to go in place..any tips on them

Have you a pic of the problem?
I'm confused you saying you're going to have a small weld on element then replace it??
If you're going to weld part of element be careful you don't fry electrics underneath it.
What part no is your boiler?
2 years doesn't sound like a lot of time, though probably out of warranty.
Warranty likely to cover 'normal use' ie boiling water, so may fail on that even if its still available.
Having said that, you could ask supplier to replace, they can only say no.
Re: 40LTR Buffalo boiler element
so no pics at the min, will try to post 1,,,the element is a concealed 1,the hole is very small...it will be welded outside the boiler so electrics will be fine...the element is destroyed due to hot wort drippin onto it so goin to seal the hole and goin to install a 2.4kw kettle element [haden] into the boiler......so then the boiler can be use to boil the wort......i had tryed to get a new boiler but got told that the boiler only has a 1 year warranty... the part No is ac35
Re: 40LTR Buffalo boiler element
Please not...I had a Email of nisbits.....that Buffalo 40ltr Elements are no longer made...so once your 1 year warranty is up its tuff look you have to buy a new a new boiler of them for £145..what a bargain NOT
