Wiring Diagram, Please ....?

Post by Ditch » Wed Jul 09, 2014 11:09 pm

:| Okay, forgive me. I can't remember what the f**king things are called. And, if ye coming in to see about a random wire job? I figure ye'll know ye sh!t anyway!

I have here one of those (I always thought they were called " ATC ") thermostats. This is a chink knock off. Whatever.

Sparky mate of mine scribbled out what I have to do, on the back of a fag packet, in the pub. That was months ago.

Now, I finally have the electric blanket I want this thing to control. And the diagram I have means about as much to me as a diatribe in Cantonese!

I tried running a search, on this board, for " ATC ". Nuffn! Could someone point me to one of the nice, full colour, well explained, wiring diagrams I Know exist on here, please?

Oh, and this thing says on the box: " AC/DC 12V ". I take it that'll be okay with a regular plug thing? Any particular fuse I should be putting in it?

Thanks.

Sounds to me that you have got the low voltage model of an STC 1000 which cannot be used to control mains voltages unless you use a 12 volt AV/DC power supply to power it and then use the internal relays to switch your mains supply.

here's the diagram for the ATC800+. I've never heard of a 12V version though.
Best wishes

F**k. So, not only do I need some of those little cubes with screws. I also need some bits of wire and ..... well, basically a unit that won't melt if I plug it in, eh? F**king brilliant

Cheers, lads. Off to Amazon with me .....

if youve got a spare 12v powersupply (wall wart) kicking around use that to power the controller

Is it an stc 1000 or an atc 800?

V. IMPORTANT - is it 12V or 240V?

Simon.

I wouldn't have a clue. It's this:

And, yes, it has " AC/DC 12V " ticked on the side of the box. " Model: MH12 10A ". None of that means anything to me.

Cute little thing, anyway. But, brutally complicated!

Can you send a pic of the back connections please. I think you have the one that can control heating or cooling but not both.

It appears complicated at first but the heat/cool 'output' is like an electronic switch and you just pass the live feed through it e.g. Live in and live out.

I only want it to control heat anyway. Just a nice looking little thermostat.

Okay, Hip. I can pick up a battery charger in town. No problems there. Once I do, I'll come back here and just make damn sure I'm getting it all right. Don't want to blow up my blanket as soon as I hit the switch

Cheers, all. Just have to wait till next week now then .....

woa there,i only mentioned battery charger as an example in case you had one lying around, much cheaper to buy a plug in powersupply, another ugly option is a computer powersupply if youve one lying around

Oh. No. Nothing like that about the place. Plethora of mobile phone chargers.

As it happens, I wish you were here! Because (between ringing birds) I'm sitting here, staring at my knackered Dyson hoover charger and trying to come up with something.

It simply has two bits of sprung steel, each connected to a wire. The steel bridges push against the receptors on the bottom of the hoover and away we go.

Only, one's snapped. £30.00 to replace this unit. Or a bit of f**king tin! Can tin be soldered to tin? I can't solder. But, I know a man who does .....
