Mag pump wiring

Post by pads72 » Thu Jul 17, 2014 8:04 pm

Ok, this may be a stupid or bleeding obvious question, but I'm no sparks and isn't this what the forum is for!?

Got a Mr Lard mag pump (wires red & black), and a 12v 3A adapter off fleabay (wires brown & blue).

Am I right in connecting red to brown and black to blue?

I'm confused! Just re-read eBay listing which said "AC to DC 12 Volt 4 Amp (12V 4A) Converter Adapter Power Supply for led strip LCD". So does that mean it is ok to use? Here's a pic of the back

That is DC.

The worst that can happen is you pump will spin backwards.

Or go up in smoke. (Joke)

I'd go red to brown.

China has obviously got a job lot on brown/blue cable.

The amperage is a mystery though....

Don't know how far you got, but definitely DC, (if you trust a Chinese label) the symbol between the 12V and 1A means DC. I agree with LeeH though, the current is a bit odd, but then you won't destroy anything as long as its 12v, it will only deliver as much current as the pump needs, so worst case is you wont have enough current and the pump will run with no power.

And with the connections I agree with you, but again worst case is the pump will run backwards as it is a DC motor.
