RIP my Buffalo boiler

Post by 50quidsoundboy » Sun Oct 19, 2014 12:49 pm

I got 46 brews out of it in total and countless hectolitres of hot water for brewery cleaning. Some time ago I bypassed all of the safety features (cut-out, thermal fuse) and while this worked well, I knew one day I'd get my comeuppance.

Thankfully this happened in literally the 60th minute of a one-hour boil so the beer was saved! I opened up the bottom and found this blob of molten metal inside:

Perfect opportunity to commence my 100l / 0.5BBL upgrade, then.

thanks - given that I planned to replace the boiler with a bigger one anyway, it's probably not worth repairing the old one.

Might be worth selling or fitting a 'standard' element in.
I understand there are no spare concealed elements available now.

if i were still using the Buffalo i wouldn't personally bother trying to source the "official" element at that price, i'd just Qmax a hole in the side and fit a kettle element.
