check your old power bricks for anything 8-12v with more than 1.5a power.
failing that for a cheap easy controllable supply check out ebay for basic tattoo powersuplies, thay have a control knob for voltage limiting built in. you just need a couple of mono 1/4" jack plugs one for the pump to plug in and the second to short out for the footswitch socket to turn on the juice.

check the polarity of the unit you get, and wire the pump into a 1/4" mono jack plug, there is also a footswitch jack socket to turn on, you could roll up tin foil over something about 6mm in diameter to short that out or a 2nd jack plug, i stuck a latching microswitch on the end but i have also hacked mine a bit an have no power on off switch at the back.
my hi tech ;) stir plate mod may illustrate

I got one of these off ebay
Didn't get it from China so was a little more expensive mind you.

The correct PSU from the solar project is only £15 without the farting about.
Best wishes

true but with the voltage control against the wall while plugged in not too easy to adjust on the fly
http://shop.solarproject.co.uk/newshop/ ... ucts_id=22

though would provide full control with DA's dimmer control.

if using a spare powerbrick the amp value on the brick should exceed the draw from the pump if lower it could overheat and burn out.

edit the calculator here http://www.rapidtables.com/calc/electri ... ulator.htm could help if your unsure
and add .5amp to be safe ;) especially if using a dimmer as that will leach some power also.
