Thermo pot 70ltc

Post by Wonkydonkey » Tue Dec 30, 2014 3:47 pm

Good afternoon, fellow Brewers.

So as the title says those lovly thermo pots from catering portal (ebay de) they have them in stock, anyway I kept looking and wishing Santa would let me have one.
So two days ago, I thought dam it I'm gonna try and buy one. Just to see if it would let me have an option to post to the uk.

Well ebay.de is not like ebay uk. In the way it works on a "buy it now" with uk ebay when you click buy now the next option is PayPal. With eBay de. You don't get that.
What you get is an email with lots of German writing, so there I am copy-pasting it in google translate.

I then found out I brought it (that's when I found it was not like uk ebay)

Ok, cool I just have to some how get them send it to the uk, me thinks "pay for it and let them sort it out. :D
As I got to the link, to enter all my info, I found the English button at the top RH side. It's getting better/easier putting the info in all the boxes. Then I gets to the choice of postage (DHL, & an a few others). I'll just choose the cheap option.
The cost of the thermo pot was €118-ish postage almost €10 so that works out approx £100.
I scrolled down to find and click pay now.
Just a quick scan of the total price before I pay.....you never know there may be a hidden charge that I missed, (it has happened before to other people which I saw on tv)
Wait for it......................the cost of postage was €999 which made it over €1118.
Well well, lucky I was sober.

I will see if I can post a pic of the invoice.
Edit
Image

This story has a happy ending cos I got a email saying they have adjusted the invoice. So I have paid for it now

So have they sold it to you and shipped to uk?

Last time I tried they said they wouldn't do that.

I just emailed them and have successfully agreed and paid for another 50 litre pot. Non insulated but 55 euros including courier costs is sweet as.They even had all my old details from last time on system- took 5 minutes!

have a pen knife ready when its delivered - not cos courier drivers are dodgy.. But to open up and inspect quickly before you sign for the pot.. the 30 seconds or so it will take if your prepared is worth the drivers complaints just in case there is anything wrong..

I took delivery without inspecting only to discover a big hole in the inner skin :? I cant complain about the customer service as it only took an email and a photo attachment to instigate the return and exchange procedure but it did take Time to play out..
If faulty (fingers crossed it isnt).. it will be quicker if you dont accept delivery, negating the sending back stage of the return/exchange proceedure..
ist update for months n months..
Fermnting: not a lot..
Conditioning: nowt
Maturing: Challenger smash, and a kit lager
Drinking: dry one minikeg left in the store
Coming Soon Lots planned for the near future nowt for the immediate :(

+1 on this,
The reason is, years ago I got the 100lt stock pot, and yeh got it indoors, opened up, there was a dent in the bottom on the edge. It was not a problem cos I just got my size 13's on it and put it back in its place. I don't think I'd be doing this in a thermo pot.

So thanks for reminding me, and everyone else who reads this.

and for those that should now realise catering portal are delivering back to the uk. =D>
How long did they stop delivering here?
Umm, I wonder what made them change there minds ?
Ps, I noticed someone bump an old post on THBF I think it was on 31/12/14. Edit it was tazuk

I read somewhere (perhaps even here, but if so I can't find the thread) that they'd stopped shipping overseas because of the number of returns. It's very tempting though. I've been planning to move to a three-vessel system, replacing my existing kit an item at a time to keep costs down, but at their prices I reckon I could get fairly close to saving the entire cost of one of the standard pots.

Email to catering-portal@bergland24.de ? I assume their command of English is somewhat better than my rusty schoolboy German, so I'm tempted to ask "How much for X, shipped to this address?" and see what they come back with.

How do they handle payment if you're buying outside ebay?

Don't quote me, but if they take paypal, then they could take payment just through that way alone, normally they send an afterbuy link, which has paypal I think.
But if my memory serves me right ? They get you to bank transfer, ie you just pay into there account with a number which is linked to your order, it might look scary ie your not paying into a Nigerian bank account #-o So it's ok you will get it, just look on some of the old posts.

You have read what I done, that's cos they were not sending to the uk, about a month ago or less

Edit, this is part of in the reply email I got,
Hello Mr. Xxxxxxxx. (I hide my name.)

thank you for your message.

No problem for communicating in English :-)

The delivery to the UK is possible, but I had to update it in our System.

Your total amount is 131,85 EUR, shipping fees of 12,90 EUR included.

Remember I filled all the info via ebay, so paid the ebay price,

Me again  , my memory is a bit sporadic. Can't think why, :D

The first time I brought the 100lt. I did get an email about 3 days later just confirming I got and all was ok,

And also there where many conspiracy theories, about why they stopped shipping here. I read in a post "it was a managmaent thing. And there was thought of a new dealer for the uk, ect.ect.

They all could be a bit true.
But the main things I have a tracking number. So where I have been wishing for the last year that I had brought one before they stopped sending to the uk.

Santa must have heard me SCREAM , BRING ME ONE OF THOSE F*****G LOVELY POTS.. I ASK YOU LAST YEAR BUT YOU FORGOT.

so he must have heard me. Cos it's on it way =D> :)

So,now how do I try to convert it?.. umm. Let's digg out those old posts and start asking all those questions again.

I have lots already....

Anyway. I only really posted about this cos I know there are lots of peeps have been wishing as well as me.

Wonky.

That sounds simple enough. I shall send them an email to ask for prices before they change their minds again :)

I wish peeps would give credit when it's due,
ie post this info on other forums like it's there own work.
I think it would be nice if they said I was on jims and found this etc.

When I was at uni it was call plagiarism. And that's was bad news.
