Peco Beermakers 32L boiler. Opinions?
Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the following boiler? http://www.thehomebrewcompany.co.uk/pec ... -1995.html There is a good offer on at the moment where it is selling for about £60 (+ p&P) as a starter BIAB kit which also includes an immersion wort chiller. Wondering whether to jump on it or not! Seems a great deal but not so if the boiler isn't really up to scratch.

I have the same boiler.
I got mine as part of a s/h kit off ebay.
I have done about 7 brews with it. It's okay but I am upgrading to bigger 70 litre s/s boiler with a gas burner.
It does the job but I didn't think much of the quality and i wouldn't of bought it for the full retail price.
My biggest issue with it was the tap is useless for attaching hoses for sparging etc.
If you can get it for a decent price then it's OK but if you can afford to spend more I would go stainless.

Thanks for the reply. Do you think it would be possible to change the tap for something more suitable without too much fuss?

I use one as a HLT was attached a ball valve with no issue. Once I have my RIMS set up sorted I plan to upgrade my HLT to a bigger SS one but all in good time. I have never used it as a boiler so can't comment on cut outs etc.AdamJohn wrote:Thanks for the reply. I almost bought a Peco but someone on forum found these for me and it was no contest. Bear in mind though that you would have a littel work to do add a ball valve but as a HLT you can go with the tap that comes affixed.

I was wondering when boiling whether the plastic would support the metal ball valve tap.Rhodesy wrote:I use one as a HLT was attached a ball valve with no issue. Thanks all for the replies, space is limited so it will be used for mashing and boiling BIAB method.
That is probably the better option, but just that little bit too much money for me at the moment.Cully wrote: I almost bought a Peco but someone on forum found these for me and it was no contest.
