Reliable Scales

Post by Rhodesy » Thu May 07, 2015 9:58 am

As I continue my brewing venture I have realised I now need new scales in order to allow me to weigh items more precisely. I am preferably looking for a relatively cheap set of scales which are capable of weighing small amounts which will allow me to weight out things such as water treatment additions, small hop quantities etc. A lot of the scales I have seen move in gradual's of 1g and from past experience even then they are not so reliable.

Does anyone have any recommendations of a set which work well and don't cost the earth?

I use something similar and it has done fine for a few years.
It is accurate to .1g but weighs upto 1kg.
I use glass bowls for the hops which would take it over the 100g limit of the more accurate one but 1/10g is more than enough.

Or pocket scales on ebay.

I have one that cost under £10 and goes up to 100g in 0.01gram increments.
Ingredients: Water, Barley, Hops, Yeast, Seaweed, Blood, Sweat, The swim bladder of a sturgeon, My enemies tears, Scenes of mild peril, An otter's handbag and Riboflavin.
