Here's mine - Just a cheap Tesco coolbox. I was using a drum tap but now have a simple ball valve so I can fit an elbow and pipe when running off.
I have found that if the joints indicated in the picture are soldered and airtight it drains down very well

Here are my manifold slots.

No stuck mashes ever - have fun with your project.
Cheers

Edit: Forgot to say I un-clipped the inner liner and added a couple of extra layers of polystyrene between the liner and outer skin.

I don't have any pictures of the drum tap set up from before I changed it but you can see in the top photo it fitted through the inner skin exactly the same as it would through a pressure barrel or FV and I used a tap connector on the back of it.

To fit the ball valve I used a tank connector with the threaded end facing to the outside and a compression fitting on the inside into the back of the tank connector - it's put away in the loft at the moment but I'll get a photo of the fittings tomorrow.

The slots usually go downwards :-k

I read recently that the filter should not reach the sides: it should be set in a fair way so that (when you are fly sparging) it avoids collecting weak channels from down the side wall...apparently. Mine goes nearly to the edge, but if I was dong it again, I guess I would avoid that.

It's generally regarded as bad practice to sparge against the walls as the liquor will tend to follow the line of least resistance between the wall and grain reducing the level of extract - with my set up most of the draw occurs in the central T piece pulling wort towards the center of the grain bed. I usually manage to hit a mash efficiency of 85% which is good enough for me. The benefit of the manifold sitting near the edges is that it is less likely to get knocked apart and dislodged while doughing in subsequently avoiding problems running off later.

I've fitted a circular false bottom to a 16l Coleman cool box. It seems to be performing pretty well.

Here you go Tricky, it's fitted with a 15mm tank connector - This one's been going about 8 years and has mashed it's way through quite a bit of grain :D
I did make a valentine arm for it after getting all enthusiastic following a visit to a brewery that was using one but to be honest it was overkill and I like simple so I stopped using it. Hope the pic's are useful.
