PID Help - Tripping Circuit
PID Help - Tripping Circuit
I recently got set up with a PID and on testing yesterday all was fine. I then gave it another go today however whenever I plug in the 3K element to it the circuit breaks on the RCCB switch. I have checked both connections and they are wired up fine so not sure how this is becoming an issue today? I am powering the PID via a 13amp extention cable. I have changed settings etc so puzzled how it worked yesterday but not today?
Any ideas? I am not very good at electrics.

Re: PID Help - Tripping Circuit
you are using a ssr to control the element, not trying to drive the element direct from the pid?
what happens if you plug the element straight into the mains? Id double check the connection between element and pid/ssr,if you can post a piccy even better

Tried it (The PID) on the actual socket and seems to be fine now.....
Yeah it is using an SSR.

And now it is doing it again!! It is a pre built PID from brew builder. Not really sure connection wise what the issue is as it was fine yesterday!
I'll rewire it once back my holidays to make sure

does it trip without the element plugged in?And now it is doing it again!! It is a pre built PID from brew builder. Not really sure connection wise what the issue is as it was fine yesterday!
does the element work when its plugged directly into the mains?
how are you connecting the element to the pid?

Re: PID Help - Tripping Circuit
It works without the element plugged in. I can't plug the element directly into the mains as it is on a locking male plug connector which fits into a socket on the PID.
I guess there must be something up with how the element is wired or the plug. Hoping just a loose wire or something?

id take the plug off and put a normal 13a on and give it a testcan't plug the element directly into the mains as it is on a locking male plug connector which fits into a socket on the PID.

Re: PID Help - Tripping Circuit
Could just be a damp connector from the trial run leaking to earth...
Re: PID Help - Tripping Circuit
Thanks! Will try that.

Re: PID Help - Tripping Circuit
It could be damp in the element tripping the RCD
