Re: Brupaks electric boiler
i used the earlier metal version with a picnic box mash tun for quite a while and had good results
Re: Brupaks electric boiler
Just found out I might have a problem with this if I want to get 23L brew ?.........
Re: Brupaks electric boiler
another option could be a 50L Bergland Stockpot with 2 x 2.4kW elements. you could perhaps build it yourself at similar cost to the Brupak boiler.
Re: Brupaks electric boiler
I'm sure it'll work just fine, but if you can stretch your budget to steel or aluminium its a much better option for durability and safety.
If you have a modicum of DIY skills (or nearby handy mate!) you could convert a steel pot for about the same as one of these. Lots of threads to show you how. I think the Malt Miller sells steel pots pre-drilled for taps.and elements if you dont have the tools.

Re: Brupaks electric boiler
If its anything like the electrim I'd stay away. The standard tap doesn't take a hose and the simerstat is rubbish for temperature control. The only good bits (worth keeping) are the bucket and the element. And for boiling the bucket goes a bit soft so I'd go for stainless anyway. I'd also suggest making one. Then you can decide your brew length and build your equipment around it not the other way round.
Re: Brupaks electric boiler
I got one of the Peco boilers s/h of EBay as part of a kit similar to this one

I had some good results, but I have since upgraded to a 70 litre s/s boiler and a 7.5kw gas burner from the Malt Miller.
As has been mentioned, it goes very "soft" when boiling, temperature control is pretty useless and the tap can't take a hose. I actually added another tap to it.
Personally, I would spend a bit more and either go the DIY route or buy a s/s pot.

Re: Brupaks electric boiler
Well guys thanks for the input on this boiler, but It's on order now in the post to me, I'll change the tap if I have to, and I'll post with pictures on how I get on with it
Re: Brupaks electric boiler
You can always use it as a HLT if you decide to upgrade to SS. I did this with my cheap home made plastic boiler - it's still going strong after 3 years!
