Do i need to override brew fridge thermostat?

Post by dshar » Thu Jul 16, 2015 10:49 pm

Just setting up a brew fridge with stc controller and was thinking i could use the stc to comtrol and just set the fridge thermostat to max.

So i searched around and this was indeed suggested on another site, but some folk mentioned the fridge autodefeost causing problems. Any consensus on this? Ideally i would like to avoid fiddling with w frisdge electrics and just leve it intact...

I pickd up a larder fridge with no freezer section tody, not sure if that makes any difference!

Appreciate any experiences on this, cheers!

Ive got a larder fridge, I think I set it to 4 out of six with an STC 1000 + heater and it works well. No auto-defrost issues here.

Interesting, and something I hadn't thought about - I'm running an under counter fridge with an ATC800+, and I just set the fridge to max rather than wiring anything into the thermostat.

I have been keeping a check on temperatures in the fridge using a min/max thermometer. Everything was fine for most fermentation, but I did notice a spike in temperature when cold crashing before bottling one day. I wasn't sure if is reset the thermometer incorrectly, but this might also have been down to auto defrost.
