Ideas on suspending plate chiller under brewing table?

Post by DC » Fri Sep 04, 2015 11:27 am

Hey all, I have recently used a new plate chiller in my latest brew day and I had it balanced on top of a tool box on top of a calor gas heater under my brewing table whilst using it during my brew day. It wasn't ideal to have it balanced there and I am looking for a way to suspend the plate chiller under the brewing table and not have to worry about it falling / moving around during use.

Not ideal place here

Need to find a way of suspending the chiller under here

Was thinking of something like this but not sure if the plate chiller would fit in the hook and sit straight

If you want it semi-permanently fixed there you could get some steel pipe strapping and making a harness type deal.

Cable tie to the table leg . . . they work better when vertical anyway :D

Hint: Beer IN at the bottom ;)

Hi Aleman, Why do I need the beer in at the bottom ? I thought it would be better to have beer in at the top and let gravity do the work of getting the beer through the plate chiller ? How do they work better when vertical ? I've already bought 2 of those plastic coated hooks for £2 so might give them a go !

Beer in at the bottom so it fills up without any air bubbles in the plates so maximum surface area for cooling ;)

Decided to give the plastic coated hooks a try as they were only £1 each from a local hardware store. I will need to shorten the hose from the boiler to the beer in port on the plate chiller to cut down on the air in the tube and less distance for the wort to travel to the plate chiller
