Fermenting fridge shelve

Post by sbond10 » Mon Mar 07, 2016 8:38 pm

Just ordered myself an inkbird 308 and a 20w heat bulb now for the final touch I need to make some sort of stand to support the bucket on.
Anyone got any suggestions or diagrams I can follow. The plan is to mount the bulb to the floor on one side so the stand needs to be an inch or so sort on one side. Or can I put the bulb on the roof ?

Thanks for any help

Cheers sean

The bulb is a black none light admitting bulb

I just used literally some 2x4 to make a stand and attached a heater and fan to it. Will try to find the links

Not ideal I know, but I am just using the stock fridge shelf at the moment (glass & plastic) and it seems to be holding up fine for 25l (kg) brews. I do run a fan full time to spread the heat around, as the shelf itself obstructs the airflow (there are gaps around the edge, and a big gap at the front).

I'm wondering if using the wire shelve with a basic support will work

yep, for about five gallons at least, a five inch stub of wood jammed under the wire shelf works pretty good..

I’ve got a commercial under counter fridge and just use the wire shelves. They hold 24 litres absolutely fine. I usually put the spare one under the top shelf just incase it breaks :o

Yeah I've seen a pic of some one that used a hollow box under a shelf

I use a couple of bits of decking board cut down the middle and to length.
Sturdy and allows good air circulation.

If you look a few posts down on this thread, you can see my effort. You don't need anything too fancy, but if you use wood, I would give it a few good coats of PVA.
