Problems with TD5 pump

Post by chris246810 » Wed Aug 03, 2016 1:54 pm

I'm having difficulty getting my td5 pump set up to work as it's supposed to.
It's advertised as having 20l/min flow and 4m head but the best I'm getting is about 2-3l/min and less than 1m head.
Its getting the full 17vdc supply and have made sure there's definitely no air bubbles and checked all fittings are sealed well.
The only other thing I can think of is that the inlet pipe needs to be a bigger bore, but why put 1/2" thread both sides if inlet needs to be bigger.

Can anyone shed any light on what I've done wrong here?

Have you played with the small dial that adjusts the flow rate? I get a very good flow through mine on max running of 12v. Not measured it but probably in the order of 20l per minute.

is the power supply capable of delivering the required current?

Cheers Matt, dialed it down a couple notches and now its running perfectly. feel a bit silly now for not thinking to try that.

Thank you very much :D

I like the look of your pump mounting solution, any chance of some more details?

Cheers, I have a similar pump and munsen clip and I'm struggling to get it secured enough to allow proper use of a ball valve without the whole assembly moving. Looks like you have some kind of unistrut build?

I wouldn't mind a few more pictures and details if it's not too much trouble? Thanks!

There's a couple of pics of the frame on my build log post if they are any use to you.

It's basically just 4 bits of unistrut and some galv angle I had lying around, used a flat T unistrut bracket, couple of zebedees, threaded rod and some nuts to lock it in place, just had to tighten the nuts quite a bit to stop it.moving when using valve.

Perfect, thanks Chris! That looks like a far more substantial and padded clip than I have, where did you get it?

It's from brammer, got it for something i was making at work but it was the wrong size for the intended job so boss said I could have it. I'm pretty sure angel homebrew sell them, though I'm not sure if they are as good quality
