Might start saving up for RipTide™.

Re: Pump Fixings
Another vote for binning the Y-strainers here. The holes in the strainer are too fine and it doesn't take much break or hop material to clog.
I used to have a bleed valve on the outgoing side of my pump, but after a couple of times of it firing a jet of hot wort out I abandoned it and instead have the pump a couple of feet below the vessel and make sure that the return isn't creating an airlock.

Ingredients: Water, Barley, Hops, Yeast, Seaweed, Blood, Sweat, The swim bladder of a sturgeon, My enemies tears, Scenes of mild peril, An otter's handbag and Riboflavin.
Re: Pump Fixings
I'm going to ditch the strainers from the pumps and reconfigure the fixings over the weekend. Will post an update then.
There is an added complication to all these direct from China pumps. I decided at the start of the year to stop buying stuff direct like that and support, where possible, local and grass roots business. So while they might ultimately be made in China, I'd rather give my money to a UK pump manufacturer, or importer. So both those pumps are out am afraid.

Plus you've got someone to go back to if there's a problem.k1100t wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2020 1:26 pmI'm going to ditch the strainers from the pumps and reconfigure the fixings over the weekend. Will post an update then.
