Silicone Hose

Post by k1100t » Sun Apr 19, 2020 8:32 am

I'm after some silicone hose for my ¾" camlocks, however, Brew Builder is out of stock and The Malt Miller doesn't do that size. Is Silex still the go to for hose purchases...? Based on the ID/OD dimensions on the Brew Builder site, I would be after the 70° shore dairy hose, rather than the 60° shore hose?

Cheers,

Bob.

*bump*

Tubing is pretty much the only major thing left for me to buy, and I just found some money down the back of the sofa.

Yes Silex or Polymax Ltd are my go-to for bespoke sizes

I hadn't come across Polymax Ltd before, the thinner tubing is cheaper than Silex, but the beefier dairy tubing is even steeper!

Has anyone tried the tubing available at aquatic centres?

Hard to say about aquatics centres, silicone hose varies a great deal in quality (as well as thickness etc) so it would depend where they get it. Some I've had has gone on for years with only mild cosmetic tinting... whilst others have gone brown, near opaque and resolutely smelly in a few months (still peroxide cured etc). To this day I haven't been able to find how to predict which it will be from the specs given (if any), so just try to pick stuff from properly good suppliers.

In addition to the malt miller's hose, silex and polymax, I've had good results from United Silicones' milk and beer range. They have a wide range, but also an ebay outlet for a few of their sizes - not sure if 16mm ID is enough for you, but it has happily gone over 3/4"OD tube/tails for me in the past.
