Racking

Post by Crafty Tim » Sun Mar 21, 2021 10:32 pm

Hi all .

Quick question for you all. I was thinking that when I do my next brew I would transfer it to another fermenter once it's ready then to another one a day or two later once it's settled then into mini Kegs ?

Basically like a triple filter type thing to minimise sediment etc.

Any thoughts??

I generally do something similar. I ferment in a conical until the OG doesn't change for 3 days, then I know its finished, I will then crash cool in the conical to 6C for two days. After that, and while still at 6C, I transfer to a bottling/kegging bucket and add finings if needed and/or conditioning sugar depending if bottling or kegging. After a further two days I will then transfer to keg and/or bottle. I purge all vessels before transferring begins with CO2.

Ah mate that's brilliant!!

Thanks for that. I guessed it would be an "ok" thing to do. . I've got previous for unnecessarily fiddling with the brews and didn't want it to be another case of faffing for no reason.

Right, I'll give it a go on the next brew. I'm also considering adding extra hops to give it some extra bitterness . .

Thanks again buddy
