Ultratap Flow Control Twist

Post by f00b4r » Wed Sep 08, 2021 10:46 am

The Ultrataps (Keg King’s successor to Intertaps) just got a flow control version, with two notable things:

- You can upgrade the normal Ultrataps if you want
- The flow control is controlled by twisting the normal handle, so you can operate them one handed

Very tempting to buy one to try it out, especially as they have an “English sparkler” spout available too:

If the sparkler spout gets you 90% off the way towards a beer engine it could be quite interesting.

Good to see that Keg King are still innovating despite not having Kee (now Kegland) there.

Very tempted with these.
Are these taps the same as Intertap?
Not in the UK yet though.

They made the thread different so the sparkler attachment will not fit an Intertap.
Sommeliers recommend that you swirl a glass of wine and inhale its bouquet before throwing it in the face of your enemy.

No they are different. The Ultratap has different intervals and was designed, IIRC, by the guy behind the Ventmatic taps.
As has been mentioned they are a different thread on the spout to the Intertaps, so they are not interchangeable.

From what I've read they are visually identical. The "Tapcooler, counter pressure bottler filler" that needs forward sealing taps includes Ultratap amongst it's compatible taps.

I've been planning to change my taps to Intertap (having discovered what rear sealing taps really mean ... the hard way!) but really wanted gold/brass taps. I'm glad I waited, Ultratap (brass) here I come! (Brass matches my hand-pumps on the "bar" - which definitely do not want flow control - , I guess I'm just a bit of a tart?).
Cask-conditioned style ale out of a keg/Cornie (the "treatise"): https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwzEv5 ... rDKRMjcO1g
Water report demystified (the "Defuddler"; removes the nonsense!): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing

I thought the Nukatap was the successor to the Intertap, made by Keg Land?

I started using the flow control intertaps which I've been happy with though.

It’s a long story but both are sort of right.

Brew2bottle seem to have them in stock:

A video of the sparkler spout out would be good to see. ;)

Heh, sorry I didn't realise how the manufacturer of the keg king / kegland products was interrelated, at least
at one point in time.

Just had a read of one of the HBT threads about keg king / kegland.
