Yup it would.
I don't think that there is an ideal solution even if I hard plumbed and buried copper pipes I would still have a dead leg with water stationary in it for weeks at a time.

aamcle, I would have to dig up the entire length of my drive in order to have a permanent water supply to my shed. My workaround was to ‘plumb’ a tap and high level HLT feed inside my shed and present the plumbing system on the outside wall of the shed with a ball valve and a hose connector. Then as and when I brew, I run a hose from an outside tap on the side of the house to the hose connector on the shed. It works for me, I can fill the HLT without any lifting and connect chillers etc to the tap. I have a food grade hose, but to be honest, if the garden hose is already out, I have used that before. Once I’m done, I disconnect the hose then open the valves/taps and it all drains and is completely empty.
