PID to control rims

I've no experience of pre-built packages, but for PIDs themselves I've had good luck with Sestos brands. Auber have a very good reputation, though the sestos versions were generally cheaper. Note there are several models available with similar model numbers and yet different input and output capabilities.

EDIT to update, 2019: At the time of the original thread there were some fake or re-labelled Fotek SSRs around (though a few such claims were actually due to insufficient heat-sinking). But by now there have been so many dodgy ones reported around the world that I'd consider them all to potentially be dodgy unless bought directly from Fotek (or a 'truly' reputable re-seller who does). Secondly, the dodgy ones back then were still generally suitable for at least half the rated power, but that no longer holds true - there have been some found with components rated at just a small fraction of what they should be.

I'll second the SESTOS PIDs, I used one for quite a while and it seemed to work well for me. I noticed you can still get them on Aliexpress though.

Yup - in the UK.

I looked into building one, by the time I had a box, ssd, probe, etc it was going to cost about £40 (perhaps a few quid less) so I thought £70 with a nice metal box and guarantee and not giving me room to mess it up, electrocute myself, etc, was good value for money.
