Good point and worth mentioning.

You would also be better off calibrating mid point of your process range.

I have yet to establish whether the MAX31865 adjusts for linearisation using a ref resistor of 430ohms.

Doesn't appear to make it plain in the datasheet.

However the datasheet does show a reading of 100C at 138.51ohms using a ref resistor of 400ohms being given as a reading of 98.56C via the ADC over SPI

I assume that using a ref resistor of 430 this slight error is removed.

However My observations using steam from a kettle gave a reading of around 98.5C so need to do a bit more digging around.
