Sterilising and gassing cornie

Post by Parva » Sat Aug 02, 2008 5:02 pm

I'm about to use some sterilising solution on my FV prior to starting a brew. I'm on a water meter here so I was wondering if I could put the solution into my cornie, give it a good shake leave it for 15 minutes or so and then gas the cornie up to purge air from it.

If I left it gassed up awaiting the brew would I need to re-sterilise it or should it be ok?

Forget this idea, IanB has shown me how simple it can be using a Videne solution so it's off to Boots for me tomorrow. :)

A good idea is to get one of the carbonation tops for soft drink bottles from hop and grape. Make up a litre of videne, put it in a tonic water type bottle, carbonate it with the carb top and corny disconnect.. connect it to the gas peg on your corny to blast the liquid into the keg, then blast it out via the liquid post and perhaps an extra squirt of gas.

I forget who's bright idea it was, but whoever it was is a king among men.
