Whilst raising the nippers we used to use milton steralising tablets and liquid for their bottles. Is there any reason why milton can't be used for brewing equipment? Does anyone know what's in milton?

I've never used it but I've heard it's extremely difficult to rinse. So unless you like Milton fluid flavoured beer...

Besides, economy thin bleach is still cheaper.

Only cheaper if you have to buy something. If you have 'stuff' left over then this ieven cheaper :)

When we (my wife and I) were doing the whole steralizing everything the baby touches routine, I bought a huge bottle of miltons. None of it was ever used as we realized it was easier to dump everything in the steamer (and people buy speacial ones for bottles! Waste of money as you can't use that for food!)

As a result I used the miltons fluid for brewing. In all the time I used it I never had a problem with off tastes.

I can't comment on tablets, but I would guess they are similar....

I used to use the liquid (or the supermarket own brand) when sanitising my bottles. It's fine as long as you rinse well. The active ingredient is sodium hypochlorite i think.

I've been down to boots and ordered some Betadine antiseptic solution aqueous which should be in next week so I'll be using that anyway. I just wondered about the milton as I came across our old batch the other day but I won't use it just in case.

We used to steam everything too PieOPah which is why we've got some left.

Thanks

Talheedin,
Boots service is crap. (they don't deserve the money)

If you nip to a local chemist in the morning, they'll be able to get it for the afternoon.

When I ordered it from Boots it was just after 5pm and the pharmasist said that they would be sending an order the next day but it may take a few days to come. Well, it came the next day and only cost £2.90.

I think it may depend on who you speak to and which store you use.
