Removing stuck sediment from bottom of bottles

I got a big batch of used bottles from a mate landlord recently and a lot of them have sediment at the bottom.

Is there a chemical I can use that will break this down? Will a thick bleach do it?

I've read about using a bit of plug chain and giving it a good shake but this really stubborn.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated?

I use a strong solution of the pound shop oxi wizz stuff,seems to work well,rinse then use either a chain or brush for any remaing bits

For starters, you need a bottle brush.

You can also soak your bottles in soda.

This works for me...try to dislodge as much as you can shaking hot water in the bottle and out. Then squirt neat sterilising fluid ( bleach without the thickener) in to cover the bottom. Swirl and leave over night.

In the morning empty rinse and then wash as normal with detergent. Do remember to rinse or you will create chlorine as mixing bleach with detergent!

Rice (uncooked and shake about) has also seemed to work well for me before in removing stubborn stains from a demi john, im sure it would also apply to bottles?

Using a plug chain and washing up liquid has cleared the first crate, but they were the cleanest.
Will see how this technique works on the next two.

Rice (uncooked and shake about) has also seemed to work well for me before in removing stubborn stains from a demi john, im sure it would also apply to bottles?

I don't use a bottle brush anymore, usually use rice as well (if an oxi soak hasn't worked). But will give a short length of plug chain a go, it will probably be cheaper in the long run.

Domestos does this for me. Overnight.

I could! But I don't fancy the idea of sitting on the toilet the next day, especially if it's a hot one.
