Not sure if this is the same stuff we get in the uk. Clingfilm here is microns thick and you can poke your finger through it easy as hell. Would be useless as a lid replacement.. at least not sure i would trust it, although would certainly make life easier for hydro readings on non tap fv
Just like trying new ideas!

12.5 microns, according to Wiki. ;)
I had no idea that they'd make the stuff to a different thickness/standard here compared to there.
While it is easy to stick your finger through, it's still quite tough and works well for many Australian home-brewers (but obviously not if kids or pets are an issue).

Nah I dont have bungs on my fvs, bungs are for airlocks and airlocks are for winemaking and demijohns and all that. I give my fvs ablast for about 5 minutes, using the brush end if there are stubborn stains, lumps etc. Then a quich wash, and spray them with videne.
Nothing's forgotten, nothings EVER forgotten...

This type of regime really appeals to me. Can be sanitising fv with steam while doing other things then straight into fv with kits etc. I reckon the least time with fv open to elements the better
