Does anyone know the shelf life of the 5% peracetic acid Murphy's sells?

Hello steve i was told 2 years Shelf life by a local company. I would have needed to buy a 25 gallon drum. When i asked the shelf life i decided not to bother so still using iodophor. Cheers

Once mixed peracetic is effective for up to an hour or so after that you need to really mix some more.

I love peracetic, but won't be using any more at home in future once this batch is gone. It'll either be Videne or hypochlorous acid.

Cheers TJB i got some peracetic from a friend but when it's finished i will probably go back to Iodophor as i don't really see any advantage with peracetic except the contact time is a little less. I might give this acid bleach a try out of curiosity :D :D

Peracetic is superb when used in a mist, at (1 in 266) instantaneous contact time, great for preparing the room for yeast work. Bit of a b*gger if you breath it in though . . . NOTE I DO NOT reccomend that you try this, but an IPA or ethanol spray is almost as effective, and a lot more friendly to higher life forms.

If you can't be bothered to clean - don't bother brewing.
