Just bottled up 120 bottles of beer today and in the midst of it all, neglected to disinfect 40 of the bottles!
Obviously they were thoroughly cleaned but I'm thinking that the implications of not sterilising them might be a wasted 40 bottles
Does anyone know what I should be looking out for or if I should just bin the lot?
I will probably get short shrift for this but, back when I was a lad, we never sterilised anything! Everything was kept in the kitchen drawer and only washed with fairy liquid.
Oddly, I am really anal about sterilised stuff now, but back then I don't recall losing a brew to infection.
I would suggest keeping them safely covered and away from anything / anyone valuable! Even if only one or two end up infected, bottle bombs can be dangerous and damaging.
I'm a relatively recent convert to sterilising bottles. I used to just rinse them and never had a problem, but now I'm older I guess I'm more risk averse.
They'll probably be fine. If you're really worried just drink those ones first.
