Groan, just when i seem to be finally nearing a decision.. :)

But this is really useful, thanks very much both. I've tried neither the more dedicated cleaning chemicals nor the CIP process yet, and had been thinking you'd need both to be effective, but actually if i get the process sorted then I could probably get away with less costly chemicals, particularly if they're kind enough to be left running without damaging my tanks.

Its not just the cost, I struggle to be in for deliveries, so having them locally available would be wonderful. Maybe I'll first try the home made mix then, or even just washing soda or a washing soda and percarbonate mix.

Pdtnc, I've so far failed to find any spray balls that an individual can buy, at least at the right side of £excessive, so i thought I may try either converting a garden sprinkler or using a tightened-then-slackened compression tee like some people use on spinny sparge arms.

Cheers

Thanks Stuart, thats a good price in that sort of quantity, I'd only found a couple of places on ebay to match it. I've found it for about £2/kg (incl P&P) 'if' you get it in 25kg batches, but thats excessive for my needs if I spray, though not if I fill and soak.

I guess thats another factor actually; if they are cheap and gentle enough then there would be some advantages to forgetting all about pumps and spray balls and just filling the tanks to soak them... KISS and all that.

Cheers
