VWP & Sod Metabi

Post by Silver Fox » Wed Jun 04, 2008 4:17 pm

I'm having trouble with two barrels (sanitizing that is) I normally use full immersion with VWP then five full immersion rinses. This works fine on my other barrels.

I was thinking of doing the fith rinse using Sodium Metabisuphate (about three pints to do a rinse around)

Would I leave this to dry or another water rinse to flush out the SM ?

Thank you in advance...Graham.

(I live in East Yorkshire, a hard water area)

Thanks DaaB,

I'll do that and report the results at a later date.

Don't leave the barrel with metabisulphite in for an extended period of time though (Months) as it can attack the plastic . . . I had to convert a rotokeg into a strawberry planter when that happened

Thanks Aleman,

The Sodium Met will only be rinsed for a few minutes.

Graham.
