Hello,
i was thinking, which hurt my brain, but if i was to sanitise a stack of bottles, leave a bit of the VWP fluid in the bottom and put one of those little plastic push fit cap things on top they sell at lhbs, would that be sanatised still in say a months time or maybe 2 months time? Could I get away with doing this every time i get an empty bottle, adding it to my stash of pre-sterilised bottles and then come bottling day just rinse rinse and rinse again and everyones happy?
Can anyone pick fault with that? I cant think why it wouldnt work but then im not the brightest and i havent a clue what im on about?!
Can anyone shed any light........
cheers in advance
Ollie
Cleaning bottles and leaving sterilising fluid in them.....?
Re: Cleaning bottles and leaving sterilising fluid in them.....?
Chlorine sanitises by surface contact, so the areas of the bottle which dry will not remain sanitised. You might be able to get away with half a day or so, but not weeks or months. Note that sanitising does not make surfaces sterile... i.e. it doesn't kill everything - it only knocks the bugs back to an manageable level.
Also, the small amount of chlorine in the cleaning liquid residue will soon come out of solution and dissipate.
Bottles are best used within an hour or so of sanitising.

It certainly is...RatboyOllie wrote:jeez bottlin is a pain in the asse

Same here.RatboyOllie wrote:i just loved bottled beer!!

I'm going to have to devise some contraption that can sanitise and rinse 12 2L PETs at a time.

Sounds good Chris.
Considering I brew and bottle at least once a week it would be most benificial for saving time. Could I use it for say sterilising one load of bottles and re-using in the next batch of bottles in a weeks time?
Also, do you know what size the container of Star San is from H&G?
