Lidl W5 Oxy Power

Post by alexlark » Tue Jul 23, 2013 9:40 am

Always after a bargain, I picked this up from Lidl. Can anyone tell me if it is ok for cleaning stainless kegs?

I've taken a pic of the ingredients.

Cheers

Yup, will be fine for all things cleaning :)

How much BTW ? My "best" price for generic Oxy stuff is a 650g tub for £1 from the shopping mecca that is Poundland.

I've been using this, seems to do the job, although it does leave a white dusty deposit, if you soak things overnight, comes away with a light scrub or a hot water followed by starsan rinse.
Worries me a tiny bit but not enough to stop using it, anyone else find this?

I only ever do a 5 min rinse with the Lidl stuff, haven't noticed anything. I use hot tap water too just incase the white bits stick to the bottom of the keg.

Not sure you should be using this overnight as it will eventually eat through stainless

So how much of this should be mixed with x litres?

And what is the contact time for sanitising?

It isn't a sanitiser.

'more than 30% Oxygen - Based Bleaching agents'

Will this not kill bacteria?

It's a cleaner and while it will kill a lot of bugs as well you need to rinse it , so your equipment is then not sanitised after rinsing. Use a proper sanitiser like star san after rinsing

I use it for about twenty minutes to thirty minutes, basically till it stops fizzing. Not sure on the amount, maybe a scoop or two for full FV worth, I usually only use it for cleaning bottles I forget to rinse, I use maybe a quarter teaspoon full for each one.

I use this stuff. 1/4 teaspoon per bottle, warm water and left for 2-3 hours before rinsing. Star San before filling.

I only clean bottles for personal use. Always use new for sales.

It's good stuff. Cleaned out my stainless Crusader kegs a few times followed with starsan and always spotless 8)
