So your standard oxy cleaner/powder is a mix of peracetic acid and sodium percarbonate. After mixing in water and cleaning up the gunk on my fvs, what happens chemically to these compounds? I have heard/read somewhere that oxygen + something else benign is created. Does this mean the waste grey water is safe to use on plants (non-edible)?

I think you end up with water, CO2 and O2, so as long as everything has broken down properly I can't see that it would be a problem on plants.

My answer is best not to use it, it takes time to breakdown and you will only know if it had not broken down enough when your roses fall over and die.

But if you want to try on next doors roses I'd say have some fun.

But Really for the amount your talking about, just use it as bath/toilet cleaner. My toilet is always cleaner after a brew.

I was just cleaning some fvs outside so thought I'd ask. Maybe I could try it out on next door's leylandii?

I remember hearing once that the water gathered in the tank of our tumble dryer could be used safely to water the plants, so we tried a little on a couple of plants - and - guess what - they died. This is quite understandable when you consider what detergents and other chemicals must be in that water.

The moral is don't take plant advice from someone who isn't a gardener.
Best wishes

Yeah, whoever suggested watering plants with it wants their bumps feeling.
