VWP cleaner left in kegs, literally years, will they still be OK?

Post by Wozboy » Sun Apr 12, 2020 8:03 am

I've left VWP cleaner in my kegs for literally years as I've had a break from brewing due to work etc. I'm reading this can be bad for stainless steel so, are they still safe to use if I strip them down clean them with a fresh batch of vwp cleaner and chemsan everything? I'm hoping so but would be interested to know if anybody has had any bad experiences from doing this? I don't want to waste a brew but I also don't want to pay for new kegs if these are still OK.Any comments gratefully received as always, thanks.

Clean them out then see what they look like. If they appear free from damage they probably will be.

is it the one we see being sprayed every place without worry of it getting in a glass beer or do we have to clean it off, cheers

No, that’s Starsan/Chemsan.
Ingredients: Water, Barley, Hops, Yeast, Seaweed, Blood, Sweat, The swim bladder of a sturgeon, My enemies tears, Scenes of mild peril, An otter's handbag and Riboflavin.
