Uncle Joshua

Three Little Ducks Brewery - Closing Time 5.0%

Image

This opened with a good hiss, and poured a lovely yellow lemon colour, with a slight haze, and good carbonation.
Tiny white head, but pours well. Medium body and good mouth feel.
Tastes of citrus fruits, like lemon and lime & a white bread bread aftertaste. Is there Citra in this ale?

The best one I have had from Uncle Joshua so far, keep up the good work

Planck Length Brewery (sunny jimbob) - Chromosphere.

Opened with a nice pfft and poured nice & clear with a good head but not too much carbonation.
Good bitterness with a hint of grapefruit & perhaps a little spice. A nice pale amber colour.

Oliver Tate - Bombay IPA

Bottles opened with a nice hiss, and a smokey grey bit of co2 escaping.
It poured really well, with a good white head, good carbonation that stayed throught & a nice pale orange slightly hazy colour. On the nose I was getting a really citrusy smell, with hints of fresh orange zest.
On to tasting it...... My god, this is nice, a zesty grapefruit flavour that's nice and crisp / refreshing, it also fizzys to the back of your tounge with small bubbles.

Well done with this beer, it's a cracking brew and one you should be proud of

Oliver Tate - Belgium Saison

Opened with a medium pissssst.
Poured an amazing golden straw colour, with minimal haze. Nice foamy white head.
Good carbonation throught. Could do with a bit more body and mouthfeel.
The taste was of a spicey nature, with hints of paprika and coriander. Then a lingering peppery taste.
Not my usual style, but it was one I enjoyed!

Oliver Tate - Amarillo Brillo

Opened with a good pisssssstttttt, nice smokey head rising from the bottle.
Poured a little too lively, but the carbonation was perfect which suprised me. The head retention was one of the best I've seen in a homebrew for a while, and a creamy head.
It was an orban / dark tan colour, and very hazy, but I'm guessing this was the style?
On the nose there was a floural and citrus aroma, with a hint of brown sugar.
Now on to the flavour, a nice hop burst with a purfume hit, which mellows out to a citurs grapefruit flavour, slight hints of pine, and a nice malty back bone!

Amarillo is a hop that if you have too much it's off putting, however this was just the right amount.

Well done on a fantastic brew

Oliver Tate - BIAB 1 Blonde

Opening the bottle with a nice hiss, slight grey smokey head.
Pours a nice pale blonde colour with little haze, nice crisp white head. The body is a little weak, and I hate to say it, but has a flat lager feel.
On the nose I don't get much to be honest, maybe a little orange aroma.
The flavour is slightly earthy & hints of a light mild fruit

I'm sorry Oliver but i didn't enjoy this one, out of the four, this one was the worse.

Black Rod - Three Littl Ducks Brewing Co - Uncle Joshua

Big hiss on opening, very lively pourer! I only managed to get it all in the glass because the frothy white ead died down quickly. Colour on the border between dark gold and pale copper, very attractive. Nicely carbonated, I was expecting it to be over carbed from the pour, but it's not!

Earthy and slightly floral nose with a bit of a twang. Very dry on the nose with a nice sparkle. Bit of acidity gives way to fruit, and a malty undertone comes through late on. A healthy bitterness comes through with the finish, and a dry floral aftertase lingers.

Aire Valley Porter - Drumhead Brewery - john_drummer

Gentle hiss on opening, which brings a coffee and toffee laden aroma. Pours a very dark ruby with a butterscotch coloured head which lasts well.

Rich roasty flavour on the nose with that coffee/toffee combo to the fore. The taste deepens and brings out red fruits and a gentle bitterness. The coffee comes back alongside the fruit in a long, dry aftertaste.

Belgium Saison #1 - Oliver Tate

Generous hiss on opening, and a spicy Belgiany aroma. It was a lovely clear pale gold until I poured a bit long and let a few chunks of yeast in! Short lived white head.

Slight banana hint in the fruity nose, with a light maltiness coming through. An interesting mix of spice develops, before that clovey banana flavour comes out again. Interesting long aftertaste, with varous spices coming through and fading. Complex and interesting!

Portside - Armchair Brewery - djseaton

Gentle hiss on opening, slight roasty aroma from the bottle. Lighter ruby colour with a slight haze, moderate fruity aroma with a hint of roast.

Slightly smoky quality on the nose with an interesting mix of fruit. Quite a light mouthfeel, surprising for a beer this colour. Fruitiness lingers in a dry aftertaste, with a slightly tart backdrop, presumably from the acid malt. An interesting pint, not 100% sure what to make of it! It's totally different to anything I've had before. Growing on me as I work down the glass though!

Planck Length Brewery - Chromosphere 5.6%

What a beer. Nice hiss on opening, a small but long lasting head. There are a few good brewers at MHB's bottle swaps and this beer is one of the best that I have come across there.

Bullet Proof - Armchair Brewery, djseaton

Healthy hiss to open and an aroma of tropical fruit with a background sweetness. Pours a nice bright golden colour with a slight haze. New hops on me, and wow, talk about totally tropical! Very fruity, with a nice bitterness to set it off. Little malt coming through, but a nice fruity refreshing beer. Definitely some hops I'll look into!

Thanks for the review,
They were some hops that I got from Rob at Maltmiller really cheap, and thought I would give them ago.

last one from me

The Kitch Inn, Guilty Dog IPA

opened with a gentle pfft but poured nicely, pale creamy head that, while not huge, lasted all the way down the glass with good lacing

a lovely deep ruby red - maybe not a "pale" ale, nor at an ABV of 3.7%, in the true spirit of IPAs, but if Greene King can sell an "IPA" at 3.6% I guess anything goes ;-)

very fruity, not very bitter, but a nice drop all the same

Thanks John!

I wasn't happy with this at first but it has improved. You are dead right though - it is not a true IPA. I'll be using those Admiral hops methinks in the bitter for the next comp...
