LeedsBrew - ESB 6.3% (I think)

Pours a deep mahogany colour, with a red hue when held up to a light.
Small tan head, which disperses quite quickly. Its is full bodied with a cracking mouthfeel. Its a tasty pint that you can chew.
From the aroma I get a sweet caramel smell, with hints of chocolate, coffee and a very mild alcohol smell.
On to the taste, first of all you get the sweet toffee and caramel flavour from the malts, then follows a dark smooth chocolate taste, the develops in to a coffee after taste that gets you at the back of the palate. Then comes a dark fruit taste of figs and dates. There seems to be a lot going on in this ale.

I think this could be better than the Riggwelter which I believe LeedsBrew based this on. I would have to try them side by side, but this sure is good! Well done on another cracking ale!

Red Grouse Bitter - Whitley Brewery, Oli1979

Pours a lovely deep chestnut colour with a big fluffy head. Bready aroma hints at good malt character with a spicy, earthy hint that shouts classic English hops. Balanced malt on the nose with a rich fruity undertone. That earthy hop flavour comes through Sith a mellow bitterness which lasts in a long satisfying aftertaste. Perhaps a little over carbed for me, but a very pleasant pint.

LeedsBrew - Titan RIS

Pours a jet black colour, with a fluffy chocolate brown head.
Good lasting lacing on the glass. Full bodied mouthfeel which is very smooth.

The aroma is one that is complex, nice chocolate and malt whiskey smell that makes your mouth water.

Wow the taste is amazing. A rich roast coffee taste that mellows out In to a liquorice flavour, which then is followed up by a alcohol hit, of which tastes like whiskey. This is a full on malty ale, one to savour whist having a roaring fire blazing away.

Piston Pilsner - The Kitch Inn, injac

It says "enjoy responsibly" on the bottle, so I'm not going to down it in one. Gentle hiss to open, pours a nice golden colour with a loose white head. Slightly winey aroma with a crisp hop bite. Little flavour on the nose, but this beer delivers in the aftertaste. A very pleasant fruitiness comes in, with a hint of orange from the First Gold. I'm tempted to say it needs a bit more body, but then it is a pilsner, so probably should be fairly light. A pleasant and refreshing beer, nice one Andy.

Screaming Monkey IPA - Oli1979

Brilliant hand drawn label! Big hiss on opening, and a big sherberty, tropical fruity aroma that reminds me very specifically of something I can't quite put my finger on! Really well carbed, I left it a moment for the head to die back, but it kept growing! Really zesty and fresh on the nose, that familiar flavour is there again but I'm damned if I can identify it! Healthy bitterness at the back of the throat, and a long zesty refreshing aftertaste. Another cracking pint!

Molesey Brewer - Pliny The Clone 8.1%

Pours a cracking straw coloured yellow, thick tightly packed head, that last all the way down the glass. The carbonation is spot on, it's full bodied and has an amazing mouth feel.
On the nose I get a piney, resign, evergreen smells which is simply amazing. For the taste it's out of this world, it's full of flavour and a lot going on with it. You get a really fresh pine and tropical fruits taste, which then develops into a crisp citrus taste, this bottle did not last long, it was so tasty and weft down very easily. Dangerous at 8.1%
Well done on a superb brew, this is right down my street and 11/10!

Tonight, I've just cracked open a pint of "Sundevil" AIPA as supplied to me by our very own Monkeybrew :)

My humble findings...

OPENING- Nicely carbonated on opening and pouring - deep gold with a copppery hint, producing a 1/2" golden tinged tight head - long lasting. First thing to hit me was my kitchen was suddenly filled with a rich, pungent aroma of citrus and grapefruit, almost like I had a fresh sliced one on the board - "packed with Citra" - the boy ain't lying !! :D

IN THE GLASS - Mid body, not too light but no assertive malt character - and wow ! those hops ! almost like a mouthful of grapefruit with each one, but not overpowering or acidic - just flavour with a gentle malt support. Lacing was excellent and lasted the whole pint.

OVERALL IMPRESSION - Very, very impressed, especially with this starting life as a woodfordes sundew kit; those hops just kept on coming and I like that VERY much (in fact, I still have a slight afterglow some minutes after the last drop had left his life ) - this is a beer that I'd have been glad to find on pump somewhere, and one that I'd have paid well for and kept visiting all night long.

You should be justly proud of this MB :) - I hope you find my offerings meet your expectations when they arrive.

Will review his Nut Brown Porter tomorrow :)

Molesey Brewer - Heart Breaker 5.4%

Image

Pours a deep black colour, that doesn't let any let through, just how a stout should be. Fluffy tan head with good retention, medium bodied, good carbonation.
On the nose I get a liquorice and aniseed aroma.
On the flavour I get a big aniseed hit, one that reminds me of pornod, but not as sharpe. There is also a liquorice and sweet lactose taste.

This is very good for a sweet stout. Well done!

Right, Morley Home Brew bottle swap today, time to get amongst them!

Whitley Brewery - Chuck Norris Pale Ale, promising a roundhouse kick of cascade!

Nice light copper colour with a generous white head. Tropical fruity aroma with an unsurprising dash of grapefruit! Nice and fresh on the nose with a string citrus note. Almost butterscotch sweetness from the malt, and a kind of herbal undertone. Grapefruit comes through but doesn't overwhelm, and leads to a long refreshing aftertaste. Cracking pint!

JOE BLOB IPA 5.4%

Image

Ok, Tasting notes:-
Appearance: Yellow/ light copper colour. Thin, tightly packed head that dissipates quickly. The yeast in the bottom of the bottle was well compacted.
Carbonation: Highly carbonated, which gives it a sherbet mouthfeel.
Aroma: Faint lemon, sweet aroma, hints of yeast.
Taste: Bitter start that finishes quite dry. Hoppy (maybe cascade?) Lime aftertaste. Very American syle light Ale. Did you use an American yeast?
Notes: Alcoholic aftertaste, But drinks more like a 4.8% beer.
Well done, a lovely refreshing pint overall. I would gladly enjoy another one outside on a sunny afternoon.

THE BLACK COCK
IBS 6.2% BY LIAM, PHIL AND STYSLOW

Image

Appearance: Jet black, with a dark ruby tint. Thin (half a finger) head, tightly packed off brown head.
Carbonation: Just enough, not too fizzy.
Aroma: Chocolatey coco then a sweetly treacle scent.
Taste: Woody, alcoholic initial taste, smooth bitterness, mellows out into a smooth mouthfeel. sweetish finish. with a lovely roast after taste.
with the chocolate aroma dominating the aroma, you would expect a chocolate taste to it, but the chocolate isn't the main taste, its the alcohol content that takes over, almost red wine like. In the hops, i'm getting red berry/ citrus flavours. Did you use bramling?
Notes: A lovely pint, i would imagine this would go down well as an after dinner drink, maybe with cheese, or it would be nice with beef jerky!
Good effort! =D>

YEARS END BLACK IPA 4.7% ARMCHAIR BREWERY
Image

Ok, i've been waiting a long time to sample this, so i hope its good.

Appearance: Black, with an off brown tint. Off white head is about 1-2 fingers that dispates after about 5 mins.
Carb: Good to high carb, probably about right. But maybe a tiny bit less would be about right for me.
Aroma: Roasty burntness, with pine needles and citrus undertones,
Taste: Initial taste, burnt dry taste with citrusy resin forward taste. Lingering smoky aftertaste, roasty and ash. Bitterness to start, and a dry bitter finish (a true style profile of a black IPA).
Notes: Brill label, very wild west i think? did you design this label yourself its great. What program did you use?
I think the base malt is cracking, but if the hop profile was more pronounced it would kick like a mule.
I think i swapped you one of my black IPA's for you to try and compare.
Overall its a great pint don't get me wrong, but i think more hops couldn't hurt. =D>

The Black Cock imperial brown stout
Liam Phil & Styslow

Black as pitch, lightly carbed with a thick rich chocolatey aroma. Big punch of roastiness on the nose, with coffee, chocolate and almost a burnt aspect. Red fruit hints, and the coffee develops in an aftertaste that feels like it'll go on for hours! Big chewy satisfying beer, good work lads!

Four Finger Jack - Drumhead Brewery, johndrummer

Impressive hiss on opening and pours a very bright golden colour with an aroma hinting at citrus balanced with sweetness. Very little head. Dry on the nose with a subtle fruitiness and a hint of that sweetness. The fruitiness comes out in the aftertaste, but I was expecting it to be more pronounced. A refreshing pint, but one that ultimately leaves me wanting more from the flavour department.
