Hi all, got a trip to Dublin planned this weekend and has anyone got any Irish craft beers/breweries to look out for?

There is a stout brewery that is pretty good

There is a stout brewery that is [censored] awful too , touts lies and myths to get your currency. I'd avoid that.

Haha yes il be paying a visit to said brewery. However I'm staying right next door to a cool looking craft bar looks like il just have to work my way through the selection.

Plenty of good craft bars around. A lot of new breweries around too, some of them trying to copy American styles with less skill and less hops.

It pays to research the breweries in advance and rock up to the bar with a whitelist.

As a rule Galway Bay Brewery are the heavy hitters. Their core range is solid, their pubs are good, and seasonals like Of Foam and Fury (DIPA) are up with the best.

I have never failed to like anything by White Gypsy. They play with the styles a bit, but quality is excellent.

Haven't kept up to date on who is new, since Blacks of Kinsale (also good ), but a lot of very new breweries I tried back in March were disappointing.

lots to choose from now and a good lot of the Dublin Pubs have a good selection of craft beers. A 5 minute taxi ride from Temple Bar is 57 The Headline which has a great range of beers and Whiskey's and even Whisky's .http://57theheadline.com/drinks/

Sadly not that Pub but one of my favorite type's of pub is the one's that don't have electronic cash registers so the young barman (or woman) has to look up the price of things. They are the ones you ask for a drop of Whiskey from the auld dusty bottle on the shelf, something like Redbreast 21 year old and you assist them by suggestion its probably the same price as Jameson

And then assist them in pouring a correct 'single' measure. "No son, a 'double' is when you fill the glass, I only asked for a single measure so half the glass please"

Tom Creans is worth a look at but its a fair way from Dublin - over near Dingle. Its a nice fresh tasting brew.
