Wilko Gervin Yeast

Post by Bibinimis » Mon Apr 26, 2021 9:30 am

I have read that Wilko Gervin yeast is actually the Nottingham strain but wonder if that is correct. I am about to do an all grain brew am nervous of fermenting in the spare bedroom as I have little control over temperature and the room is south facing so gets hot on sunny days. The alternative is a shaded semi external utility room where the temp would be 13 to 15 C. I understand true Nottingham can perform as low as 10C hence the question as to the exact similarity of the strain.

Some years ago one of the home brew department employees from Wilko head office was a member here.
He confirmed to me that the Gervin yeast they sell IS Nottingham

Thanks very much and apologies that my search did not reveal this thread. Also I only saw the response after revisiting my own post so wonder if I need to reset something as being new to the site I am floundering a bit.

You should get an email notification of replies to your threads by default. Although they can sometimes take a short while to come through. Maybe check the spam box on your email?

Cheers Tom

P.S. That thread is best part of 9 years old so could have been one of the last results of your search?

Thanks I did that and received a couple of notifications then no more despite others kindly responding to my posts. When I go into the options there are two boxes inviting ticks the first headed "notifications" and the second "email" both of which I currently have ticked. I wonder if that is wrong as I am not receiving email notifications. I am not receiving them in any section including spam nor would normal delay explain this as a few days have elapsed. There are more important things going on around us but I would like to rectify this so help please!

Yes it is. I have just got into my profile and sent myself a message to double check and it has arrived in my inbox.

I've already had a look at the admin panel and all looks well with that. I've subscribed to a few threads to see if it's working for me - will report back when I have a result.

Is anyone else have problems I wonder.
