P.h before mashing in

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

No coloured malts in this, all pale malt and rice.
Maybe a touch of roasted malt like 10 grams just for colour adjustment though.
Is water with this low Alkalinity likely to cause an issue?

Ok thanks, I have now just mashed in and looks like my Mash P.H is at 5.42 so not too bad.
Thank for your help, much appreciated 👍

So, this is a totally different topic but thought I would post here as we have a discussion going.
Previously I thought I had been having issues with my hydrometer not reading correctly.
Now admittedly I am lazy and have not yet dissolved 16g sugar in 100ml of water, however tonight while brewing my pre boil gravity does not change readings when between the temps of 51°c and 20°c, at either temp it is reading 1.042.
I am still waiting for a new hyrdo to turn up so at least I could check if they both read the same.
