Hi, I have some food grade calcium hydroxide and I'm wondering if it needs throwing away.
When I bought this, about 6 or so years ago, the BBE was only for 6 months. I used it once and then never again, leaving it in my shed.
Does this need throwing now or is it ok to use still? I want to try using this for adding alkalinity rather than sodium bicarbonate.
Thanks

An MSDS on Ca(OH)2 I read indicates storage should be in cool dry conditions, but poor shelf life. However I bought* two re-sealable packs of it years ago (one still unopened) and it's doing it's job just fine. Interestingly it was sourced from a kitchen/cooking wares retailer in Melbourne, and the packs said Made in Japan. I would have thought it would have been manufactured locally (Australia). Maybe it is now.
