Birthday Brew Creation 05.03.08

Post by Bazil » Mon Mar 03, 2008 7:48 pm

Hi All,

Does anyone fancy creating me a birthday brew from the goodies I have in 23L please? We had a day out planned but my wife has to work now :( So I’m going to brew and have a drink or two.

Sorry for being lazy and not coming up with something myself.

Thanks for the replies I've got a batch of Treacle Chocolate Stout from December Daab and it's very nice. I like the idea of an imperial stout, we keep having a dabble at the Sam Smiths version.

So I'll do a Russian Imperial Stout and drink it next March.

From BCEBH

23L OG 1098 FG 1018

4000gm Pale Malt
2800gm Larger Malt
1450gm Amber Malt
445gm Black Malt
950gm White Sucrose

90 min Mash 67c batch sparge

Boil for 90 min
55gm Target or to 50 EBU

2L 1084 starter

The starter won’t be ready for tomorrow so I'll just have a few beers and brew up on Saturday.

Cheers Barry

looks good, not sure how EBU's equate to IBU, but you may want more bittering hop in that. An remember with imperial stouts there are no limits only minimums

is a 2l starter enough?

have you tried Mr malty pitching rate calculator?
