John Bull Lager

Morning all

3rd gravity check this a.m. 1.012 so am going to risk bottling tonight.

Quick Q; although clear, seems quite dark for a lager - almost pale ale ish. I know I used Munton's(?) Beer enhancer instead of the stated sugar; could this have darkened my brew?

Thank you Daab!

Am disappointed it'll only be about 4.3% (prefer the taste of lagers in the 5-6%range) but, as it'll be ready for the start of the BBQ period, at least it'll make an easy drinker!

Had relied on Tesco's mineral water 5 ltr bottles to contain 5 ltrs. It would appear now that they contain 5-5.5 ltrs!

Measuring more specifically from now on...

It's more likely that your brewing bucket is inaccurately marked than the bottles of water.

I saw a thread once with a fella who had a length of PET which he had graded in gallons accourding to the dimentions of his FV.

May try this, may just measure coloured water in my FV and grade it correctly on the outside in gallon intervals.

Never really had a lot of faith in the sticky lable on the AoB fermenter anyway!

Any permanent marker/paint recommended/avoided for use on plastic FV's?
