London Amateur Brewers meeting - 12th May 2008

Post by spearmint-wino » Sun May 11, 2008 9:11 am

A departure from the regular date of first monday of every month because of the bank holiday last week, LAB will meet tomorrow (12th May 2008) in the usual place:

6pm onwards, upstairs at The Wenlock Arms: 26 Wenlock Road, London N1 7TA. Nearest tube Old Street, then a few minutes' walk up City Road, turn right up Windsor Terrace.

There will be an introduction to BJCP tasting by our resident qualified member Ant, an evaluation of our own BJCP tastings of a Brown Ale, a style talk on Mild and the usual tasting and evaluation of members' beers. Scorching!

All new members at all levels of experience welcome, from first-time kit brewers through to accomplished all-grain veterans. See you tomorrow 8)

I can't find a bottle of Manns Brown Ale which Ant asked us to taste before coming to the LAB meeting. T**co's don't have it, Majestic don't, Costcutter don't, W*****se don't, Oddbin's don't.

Any suggestions please...? Otherwise I will be the child who hasn't done his homework

A light-struck example perhaps? ;)

Anyway, that'll be you and me too then, E1N.... Everywhere I've tried so far hasn't had it and I haven't managed to get the mail order one from the link that was sent round.
I'm going to try a M*rris*ns today and see if they've got it. If they do, I'll get 2 and we can do a quick tasting in the park across the road before we go in

the if you think your beers are too dry try adding a drop of golden syrup at a time to see if they improve if they do then tada!

that was good

How many LAB types are on JBK?

Me, Spearmint-Wino, Prolix, Mix, any more?

I think I might have to start coming along considering I worked on and off in the wenlock for 4 years. My little bro still does... I'm very new to home brewing so I could do with all the advice i can get!

Count me in for the next one

I've been down once, when a meet happened at the same time as me being in town :=P
Highly recommended, meeting brewers face to face makes all the difference.

Across all the meetings we've had the above plus mb, eyeoftheduck, tony, andybrock, prodigal2, silveranalyst and david edge as far as I can remember.

Come along, tomU, all welcome 8)
