I just started to rack to a second fermenter again because I'm worried about the hop debris that keeps getting into my primary fermenter. Sometimes the brew tastes a little grassy. Anyone else worry about that?stevezx7r wrote:Back to Chris's question, I ferment for ten days in one fermenter then transfer to either barrel or bottles. The ten days is so the yeast can clean up after itself. Also, moving the beer increases it's chance of infection.

I have been reading brewing literature over the weekend that advises switching the fermenting beer into a clean fermenting bin after a couple of days. I just wondered whether anyone else used this method?
From what I have read it was to get the beer off the rubbish at the bottom and improve the beer.
