Another daft question!

Post by davekermito » Sun Dec 14, 2008 1:08 pm

Hi there - not sure where to post this so I'll randomly select a forum!

There has been a couple of 'firsts' this week.

1. I'm using a kit rather than my usual extract brewing (for simplicity and price!)
2. I'm using a keg.

My brew has dropped from 1042 to 1015 in two and a half days and has a hefty ol' krausen going on. If I was bottling I would wait until a stable SG reading, but was wondering whether I can keg earlier as pressure won't be an issue? This would have the benefit of racking prior to the KH falling back into the brew and would mean the beer has a chance of being sampled by Christmas!

Any ideas?

The only drawback I can see is that you'll get a pretty hefty yeast deposit in the keg (and therefore more chance of autolysis in storage - if it lasts that long).

Kit Brewing Questions and Answers forum perhaps ?
Isn't that where we're at?

I'd happily keg that but what harm leaving it a few days longer?

It was moved!

The only reason was impatience - I may have to buy some beer for Chrimbo.
