Cheap Hops
Re: Cheap Hops
I'd add Pioneer and Progress if you could stretch to it too, both are used in many brews.
Re: Cheap Hops
Watching this one closely too.... Any thoughts about grain at a later date?

Re: Cheap Hops
Just so you are all aware, I have been in contact with said hop supplier and here is an example of the prices direct from them. Minimum order quantities are 5 kg. Here are a few examples (PM me your email address if you want a copy as I have a pdf they sent me with all hop prices that they trade in).
Challenger £14/kg (£70 for 5kg) so works out to raw material cost of £1.40 per 100g
EKG £15.30/kg (£76.5 for 5kg) so works out to raw material cost of £1.53 per 100g
Styrians £11.65/kg (£58.25 for 5 kg) so works out to raw material cost of £1.17 per 100g
Cascade £24.75/kg (£123.75 for 5kg) so works out to raw material cost of £2.48 per 100g
So prices are not bad at all from nowacki considering he will need to split up 5 kg pack into 50 100g packs per variety so as long as postage is kept to a minimum then all looking really good.
I will keep watching this post me thinks!

Re: Cheap Hops
If you wanted to order more than 1kg of each variety I could offer a bulk discount. I'm not in it to make a fortune just fair prices for hops the last cascade's I brought were £4.79 a pack which I thought were a bit too expensive. After looking into the pricing I came up with fair pricing for hops which I would like to share with everyone.
Re: Cheap Hops
I think you won't have a problem gaining a healthy customer base on here with those prices..
When are you go for launch?

I have just used willamette as a finishing hop for my IPA and it was great. I have recently just started using cascade and will deffinatly be blending the 2 in my next brew, probably with challenger for bittering in a golden ale.Do many people use willamette hops i've heard they go well with Cascade!
