AG#14 Challenger Ale
Re: AG#14 Challenger Ale
I was eyeing that recipe with interest too! Would be interesting to see how it'd work out with Challenger. TBH I can see why Fuggles would be the top choice for an ale with 15% crystal as I tend to pigeon-hole Challenger as a summery hop better off at home in the palest of ales.
Re: AG#14 Challenger Ale
HI would you recommend reducing/removing the crystal from an all challenger brew? I do have some EK Golding in the freezer but then id making summer lightning again.booldawg wrote:I was eyeing that recipe with interest too! Re: AG#14 Challenger Ale
Depends if you want to retain the malt profile of this ale. Looking at the original thread the OP based it upon GWs Sarah Hughes Ruby Mild recipe. I could imagine it working with Fuggles or maybe Northdowns. Challenger is an excellent choice for the Summer Lightning style pales but can imagine the more spicy Fuggles in this particular brew.
Maybe Fuggles for bitterness and Challenger for aroma?
