Loads of Hop vines - what to do?
Loads of Hop vines - what to do?
I just had a look and I have a lot more hop vines sprouting this year than last, Do I want to cut back all but one or two or let them all grow?
Re: Loads of Hop vines - what to do?
you should chop them back to the 2 or 3 most vigourous ones. if you can let the rest grow to about 15cms you can use them as cuttings. Leave the top couple of leaves and stick 'em into some water and leave for a month or so until roots appear, then plant in some potting compost.

Thanks,
I suspected as much. I didn't know about the cuttings. It might be worth doing and finding a hedgerow somewhere to plant them.

I take the biggest two for each vertical string and cut back everything else.
